May & June

 

Kent Cornucopia Days “Scholarship Program”:  Join us as we select this years 2010 Miss Cornucopia.  This program will end with Miss Cornucopia being announced at the “Main Stage”, Friday the 9th at Kent Cornucopia Days.

 

 

 

   

Sunday, July 4th

 

Summer Splash:  Join us for a wild time at the City of Kent’s Summer Splash at Lake Meridian.  Lots of games, food booths, & free entertainment.  We are also proud sponsors of 4th of July fireworks display over the lake.   All day.

 

 

 

   

Wednesday, July 7th

 

Summer Art Exhibit Gala:  The annual Kent Cornucopia Days Opening Reception hosted by the Kent Arts Commission offers a festive evening of art, food and fun at the Centennial Center Gallery.  All are invited to attend this free event. Join sponsors Sherri Ourada, Kent Arts Commissioner, and Mama Stortini's Ristorante & Catering for refreshments and a no host bar.  Meet the artists and vote for the “People’s Choice Award.”  Call 253-856-5050 or visit www.kentarts.com for more information.  5pm – 8 pm

 

 

 

   

Thursday, July 8th

 

Funtastic Shows” Carnival:  Experience the thrills of this full size carnival that has rides for all ages, from the latest and fastest rides available today to smaller rides just for the small kids.  There is a full Midway and a dedicated Children’s rides area.   Look for opening day discount coupons at participating merchants.   Corner of W. Smith and Lincoln Ave. (former Metro Park & Ride lot), 3 pm until closing.

 Kent Youth Soccer Associations 11th Annual “Cornucopia Cup” Tournament:  Watch nearly 150 youth teams from throughout the Puget Sound area compete at this event.  Most matches will be held at Pea Patch Soccer Fields, Green River Road & S 265th St., with many more at local Kent facilities.  All day.

 

 

 

   

Friday, July 9th

 

Kent Lions “Street Fair” & “Taste of Cornucopia”:  An unbelievably large variety of arts & crafts and food vendors, including commercial and other displays with over 600 booths to choose from.  Over 35 food booths throughout the streets, and two large food courts next to the entertainment stages at the Town Square Plaza & Burlington Green Park.  10 am to 8 pm.

Fine Crafts Market:  The Fine Crafts Market is for crafts people and artists specializing in handcrafted items only.  The objective is to create a colorful, balanced and varied selection of high quality handmade crafts and artwork at the festival.  The Fine Crafts Market is located at Kent Station.  10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Funtastic Shows Carnival:  Continues, 2 pm until closing.

Plaza Stage:  Sit down and relax while being entertained by our live performers.  The Plaza Stage entertainment features local community performances throughout the weekend.  Town Square Plaza on the corner of 2nd and Smith, (see the attached stage schedule for event and times).  2 p.m. until dark.

Miss Cornucopia Coronation: Meet our new Miss Cornucopia 2010 as she is announced and crowned by Mayor Suzette Cooke at the Cornucopia "Plaza Stage", Town Square Plaza on the corner of 2nd and Smith. 2 pm.

Gazebo Stage:   Another full stage of live entertainment provided by the “Kent Lions” by the Gazebo, enjoy a varity of  music at its best.  Located next to our Gazebo Food Court and the “Ram Restaurant” Beer Garden in Burlington Green Park on Railroad Ave, (see the attached stage schedule for event and times).  3 pm to 8 pm

Square Dance:  Join in or just watch and enjoy our annual square dance at the Plaza, Town Square Plaza on the corner of 2nd and Smith, seating area provided.  8 pm until dark.

“Kent Valley Artists Association Art Show” presents an art show and sale at the Rosebed Park, on 1st and Meeker.  10 am to 8 pm.

Bingo:  Lions Bingo and our Mini Titus Food Court at the Titus Park on the corner of 1st & Titus.  10 am until closing.

     ·         Kids and adults will enjoy our Military Displays with equipment & vehicles from the Army National Guard and other military units.  On Gowe St between Railroad and 1st Ave.  10:00am to 8:00pm.

     ·         Visit the Kent Police & Fire Dept Safety Fair, located on Railroad Ave between Gowe and Meeker, for tips to keep your family safe, kids can climb aboard a fire truck. 10:00am to 8:00pm.

     ·         Adopt a pet at our Kent Cornucopia Days Pet Adoptithon from the KCACC (King County Animal Care and Control shelter in Kent) right at our festival.  Burlington Green Park, Railroad and 1st Ave.  10:00am to 8:00pm.

  

 

  

   

Saturday, July 10th

 

Kent Cornucopia Days 5K Fun Run and Walk – The Kent Parks Department is pleased to present the Kent Cornucopia Days 5K Fun Run.  It’s focus will be on encouraging families to participate together to get outside and exercise.   The race will take place on Saturday, July 10 at Three Friends Fishing Hole, 20025 Russell Road.  Day of race registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.  The race features a fast down and back along the Green River Trail. 

Kent Cornucopia Days 10th Annual “Dragon Boat Races”Enjoy this beautiful event on Kent’s own Lake Meridian.  Nearly 50 Washington, Oregon, Canadian, California, and local teams will race in eight giant 45-foot boots with a crew of 24 people.  Races begin at 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.  The park will have activities for the family including food booths, along with souvenir and team booths.  Shuttle from Kent Fire Station #75, Horizon Elementary School, and the 132PndP Park & Ride lot.  6:00 am to 6:00 pm

Kent Cornucopia Days 1st Annual “Bike Ride”:  Join us for our newest event at Kent Cornucopia Days, our 1st annual Kent Cornucopia Days Bike Ride.  This is a 25 & 60 mile Bike Ride on July 10th.  Sponsored by the Emerald City Lights Bike Ride Organization, this event starts at the Union Bay Company headquarters on 21216 72nd Ave in Kent, registration goes from 7 am until 10 am, and the Bike Ride starts at 8 am.

Skateboard Tournament:  Our 14th Annual Skateboard Tournament. Registration is at 12 noon and tournament is at 1 pm.  Live entertainment and music by radio station Funky Monkey.  At the Arbor 360 Park, 240th & 120th.   12 noon until 5 pm.

Kent Lions “Street Fair”, “Taste of Cornucopia”, “Kent Farmers Market” & Kent Station “Fine Crafts Market”:  Continues, 10 am to 5 pm.

Fantastic Shows Carnival:  Continues, 12 noon until closing.

Kent Valley Artists Association Art Show:  Continues in Rose Park, 10 am to 5 pm.

Grand Parade:  Join with thousands of spectators who line the streets for Kent largest and most prominent parade. Enjoy floats, marching bands, drill teams, and the SEAFAIR Pirates. Bring the family early for this outstanding event, which will be held along 4th Ave., starting at Saar St., turning West on Smith St and ending at 6th Ave. The reviewing stand is in front of the Kent Police Dept. This year’s theme is “It’s Kentastic” and will be broadcast live over the City of Kent’s Channel 21. Parade starts at 2:00pm.

Kent Cornucopia Days 1st Annual “Kids Bike Ride”:  Join us for our newest event at Kent Cornucopia Days, our 1st annual Kent Cornucopia Days Kids Bike Ride.  This is a short ride prior to our Grand Parade on 4th Ave.  Sponsored by the Emerald City Lights Bike Ride Organization, this event starts at Titus Street in Kent and starts at 10:30 until 11:30 am.
