Foundation History and Mission

The Kent Lions Foundation was formed in 1996 as a 501C-3 non-profit corporation to assist the Kent Lions Club in its numerous community service projects and activities.  One of its primary functions is to increase the scope and activities of the Kent Lions Club by involving more community citizens and businesses in the annual Kent Cornucopia Days Festival and SEAFAIR.

One of the activities within the Kent Cornucopia Days Festival is the selection and reign of “Miss Cornucopia” and our involvement with the Greater Puget Sound region.   The winner represents the Kent Cornucopia Days, Kent Lions Club, and the Greater Kent Community locally and all around the Puget Sound region.

In 1997, the Kent Cornucopia Days Committee and the Kent Lions Foundation decided to put on their own pageant in order to accomplish the following objectives:

    1.  To provide college scholarships to as many deserving young individual as possible.

   2.  To provide a positive atmosphere of guidance, training, and maturity development for the youth   of today who will be the leaders to tomorrow.

   3.  To continue a long-standing tradition within the Community of Kent by selecting young leaders   to represent us to the Greater Puget Sound area.

The pageant that you see tonight is the final portion of many months of hard work for the selection of “Miss Cornucopia” and numerous scholarship winners, and the start of “Miss Cornucopia’s” reign.  We thank you for your support and attendance.
