Meet Miss Cornucopia 2005

 

Miss Cornucopia 2005 is Lauren Ice

To be re-crowned on Saturday July 16th, 2005 7:00 pm

Kent Cornucopia Days own Royalty will be crowned in a ceremony scheduled for 7:00 pm Saturday evening when Kent Mayor Jim White will crown Miss Ice as the 2005 Kent Cornucopia Queen. This event will be held at the "Cornucopia Main Stage" held at the Kent Regional Library (2nd & Smith St.).

Miss Cornucopia 2005 was selected at the "Cornucopia Scholarship Pageant" held on May 28th 2005 at the Kent Covenant Church.

On Saturday night May 28, 2005 @ the Kent Covenant Church in the Performing Center Lauren Ice was crowned Miss Cornucopia 2005. The 18-year-old senior from Kent Meridian High School is pursuing a Business Administration Degree at the University of Washington in the fall. “I wanted to be Miss Cornucopia all my life”, said, Lauren. “It was a longtime goal of mine and I’m proud to say I achieved it”. “I can’t wait to take part in all the Cornucopia Days activities and spend my reign supporting the program”.

She is a motivated, ambitious teen with her eye on the future, she believe ones' personal goals and dreams are always with in their reach.  As an honor student, DECA President and the Founder of Program ICE…her vision is to achieve excellence in all that she does and to encourage that philosophy in the lives of those she mentors and meets.

In her spare time, Lauren is a fashion designer using rhinestones to dress up everything she owns. She hopes to open her own business in the new “Kent Station Project” in downtown Kent. In addition to being an avid dancer @ South Side Dance Force, cheerleader and gymnast. Lauren has dedicated over 150 hours at the Boys and Girls Club of King County and is in the process of developing a plan to open a Boys and Girls Club in the City of Kent. “Lauren shared her idea with the Nicole Baer, Unit Director, Federal Ways Boys and Girls Club” and she said, “People call here all the time inquiring if there is a Boys and Girls Club in Kent, I feel that would complete a need for young people in your community”.

As Miss Cornucopia 2005, Lauren will spend the next year championing the official causes of Miss Cornucopia.  Also she will travel the Kent School District as an advocate for “The Power of Education” as the Founder of Program ICE, Involvement, Children and Education.

Participants in the Miss Cornucopia Scholarship Pageant have the opportunity to showcases their talents through academics, creative expression, public speaking, community service, and participation in many SEAFAIR events.
