Free Health Screening

This year the Kent Lions will again offer the opportunity for health screening at Cornucopia Days.  Kent Lion volunteers, as well as volunteers from the local medical community will staff a Health Fair tent area and plan to conduct screening for diabetes, sight, hearing and blood pressure free of charge.  Children under the age of 18 may require parental consent for diabetes screening, if desired.

The mobile unit is professionally equipped and travels to large and small communities through out Washington and Northern Idaho offering screenings for hearing, vision, diabetes, glaucoma and blood pressure free of charge.

The goal of the LHSU is to provide early detection of health problems so corrective steps can be taken immediately.  This year it is expected the unit will screen over 30,000 individuals, including over 25,000 children.

The primary mission of Lions International is to preserve sight and hearing.  Locally, the Kent Lions provides more than 40 children and adults with necessary vision exams and eyeglasses each year, usually by referral from Kent School District nurses or Kent Senior Center staff.

A goal of the Kent Lions during Cornucopia Days is to provide the opportunity for early detection of health problems so corrective steps can be taken immediately.  Last time the unit was at Kent Cornucopia Days, more than 200 people were screened through the Lions Health Screening Van.
